The 2 train is an express train that runs from 241st Street in the Bronx, through Manhattan along 7th Avenue and ends in Flatbush Avenue - Brooklyn College, where I got off. This area of Brooklyn is called Midwood. Midwood is primarily suburbs, filled with wealthy Orthodox Jews and irish Americans. "Well, I invited him to Passover this year..." and "Seder dinner last year..." are literally phrases you will hear while walking the streets in Midwood, Brooklyn.
Just North of Midwood lies Brooklyn College; in 2003 they won the number one slot for Princeton Review's "Most Beautiful Campus." Although there are sings of wealthy Orthodox Jews, Brooklyn College is not Midwood and is considered part of Flatbush. As of the 2000 U.S Census there were 37,132 housing units with 106,154 people living in them. Of those, 79.8% were Black or African American, 14% Hispanic or Latino, 6.5% White, 2.8% were Asian, 0.4% Native American, 5.7% were another race, while 4.9% were two or more races.
Midwood and Flatbush are both part of New York City's Community District 14.
Small stores in Flatbush just off the 2 train.
Brooklyn College gate. I was not permitted on the grounds (although I did wait to see if the security guard would leave so I could sneak in; sadly this did not happen).
Residential housing south of Brooklyn College (almost in Midwood).
Bloomed flowers in front of residential housing.
